What’s the next best thing to actually being there, seeing Noah Kahan live in concert? Watching his show live via the TourGigs livestream.
Seriously.
For less than $20, I joined the 38,000 or so fans who were lucky enough to see Noah Kahan live in concert at Fenway Park in Boston last Thursday night from the comfort and convenience of my own home.
From beginning to end, I felt like I had a front row seat for this incredibly gifted folk-pop singer/songwriter’s ridiculously awesome performance, enjoying every magical moment of the concert as though I were there myself.
Noah is an amazing artist who I’ve been listening to religiously now for about a year. You might know his music from his big hits, “Stick Season” and “Dial Drunk,” but he has released three albums’ worth of beautiful material so far, and the sky’s the limit for him.
He doesn’t hesitate to bare his heart and soul in his songs, which are very personal and emotional, documenting his feelings, chronicling his journey through life’s ups and downs. He also uses social media on a regular basis, keeping fans up with his thoughts and travels. His meteorically growing audience base can’t get enough of him, one way or another. Count me one of them.
As for TourGigs, I have now seen the future of how live concerts will be watched when people like me don’t have a ticket. Like many other music fans, I often turn to YouTube to catch some of my favorite artists in concert. Most of what I watch there is user-generated content (UGC), decent, albeit amateur recordings by fans with their phones.
Watching Noah Kahan via the TourGigs, however, was like watching an award-winning documentary, the equivalent of having the best seats in the house – that’s seats, plural, from a multitude of distances and angles – for a show for the ages.
This was an absolutely brilliant musical performance captured perfectly on film. This was digital technology and cinematography taken advantage of as it should be in 2024. This was the best of all worlds – great artist, great music, great venue, great show – if you are a Noah Kahan fan, and, frankly, who isn’t these days.
Thanks so much to Noah Kahan for expressing his feelings and sharing his life in his songs. Thanks, also, to TourGigs for bringing his historic Fenway Park concert to those of us who couldn’t be there in person.
